How to Use Browser Password Managers with Nextcloud – A Simple Guide

Step 1: Login to your Nextcloud. You’ll see your files and folders on the right, and menu options

Step 2: Go to Apps

Click on your profile (top-right), then select Apps from the dropdown.

 

Step 3: Install Passwords App

Click on Security from the left menu

Scroll to find the Passwords app

Click Download and enable

Step 4: Add a New Password

Select New Password

Now you're ready to save your login details securely

Step 5: Enter Password Details

Fill in your Username and Password

Add Name, Website, and optional Tags

Write any notes if needed Click Save

Step 6: Install Chrome Extension

Search nextcloud password manager chrome on Google

Open the link: Passwords for Nextcloud Browser Extension

Click to install it from Chrome Web Store

Step 7: Add Extension to Chrome

Click Add to Chrome on the extension page

Extension will be installed in your browser

Step 8: Connect Extension to Nextcloud

Click the extension icon in Chrome

Select Connect manually

Step 9: Create User Account in Extension

Click the + person icon on the top-right

Or click on "Click here to create one"

Step 10: Enter Account Details

Fill Name, Nextcloud URL, and Username

Paste the App Password (from Nextcloud user settings)

Click Save to complete account setup

Step 11: Customize Extension Settings

Choose options like: Auto-fill login data , Save passwords from popup , Store incognito passwords

Click Save to apply settings

 Step 12: Auto-fill on Login Page

Go to your Nextcloud login page

Click the extension icon in browser

Select your saved account (e.g. IG Cloud)

Login details will be auto-filled instantly
